I can hit a 5 ... 6...7...8...9...and Pitching wedge OK
I use cavity backed perimiter weighted irons
the 3 and 4 irons?
forget them....just extra weight for me...I don't hit them well
now some makers let you choose which irons you get in a set
usually you get 3-PW 8 irons in total....
I would just get 5-PW and add some HYBRID iron/wood combos...
the Hybrids play more like a wood.. the loft and wide club bottom help get the ball in the air ...and the wide bottom slides along the ground, not digging in...
these Hybrid irons make the game easier
and for the hacker(like me, mid 80's to mid 90's) that is a good thing
I would advise you look into getting a few Hybrids to replace those unhittable long irons
a funny Lee Trevino story: Lee was hit by lightning on the course one time, he survived....
later Trevino would give this advice, jokingly "if there is a lighning storm hold a 1 iron over your head....cause even GOD can't hit a 1 iron"...
